This weekend the annual X Games went down in Aspen, Colorado, with the world’s best freestyle skiers and snowboarders throwing down on the massive and impeccably shaped slopestyle and X courses, superpipe and big air jump.
As always, the event was a showcase of the very best freestyle skiing and snowboarding (plus some crazy snowmobiling!) and there were all the usual upsets and drama.
Mark McMorris stomped his way to victory in the Big Air, with Max Parrot and Yuki Kadono claiming silver and bronze respectively.
Danny Davis won gold in the superpipe for the second year in a row, beating Taku Hiraoka, Iouri Podladtchikov and Shaun White, former king of the Superpipe, who finished fourth.
The women’s superpipe was won by 14-year-old Chloe Kim, who not only knocked Kelly Clark, queen of the superpipe, off the top of the podium but became the youngest ever competitor to win at X Games!
Mark McMorris won his second gold of the games in the men’s slopestyle, just pipping Ståle Sandbech to the post, while Sven Thorgren took bronze.
Silje Norendal took gold in the women’s slopestyle for the second successive year, with Jamie Anderson taking silver and Christy Prior bronze.
And, as if all that wasn’t enough to keep the crowd entertained, Snoop Dogg took to the music stage on Friday evening, with Chromeo and Skrillex following suit on Saturday and Sunday.
Such an awesome event – we’re just gutted that the European one is no more.SDUK Snowboarding News: X Games round up,
