Three years after becoming the first ever snowboarder to land a triple backside rodeo, and one of the first to land any kind of triple, British rider Billy Morgan has taken it to the next level by landing the first ever quadruple, yes, QUADRUPLE cork 1800!
Yesterday, on his last day of the season, Billy posted the following on Facebook, accompanied by video evidence of his feat:
“Last day riding for the season so thought I would send one for the boys!! Thanks to Red Bull and to Livigno sorting the wedge! #quadcork #1800 #seasondone”
And just as with his video of the triple backside rodeo, it instantly went viral.
This season’s big competitions have been dominated by endless variations of the triple so it was only a matter of time before someone went that step further and stomped a quad. We’re just delighted that someone was our Billy!
However, it seemed so far off that even at beginning of this month it was the subject of some April Fools rouses.
It’s an awesome achievement for Billy and British snowboarding, but it doesn’t come without controversy. There has much talk lately about snowboarding becoming more about spins than style, and there are many who argue that well executed stylish runs should be winning competitions rather than frantic spins. Whatever your view on it, we defy you to watch this video and not be impressed!
