The Burton US Open went down in Vail, Colorado this weekend, and it was pretty eventful!
The men’s events were dominated by the Japanese, particularly the Halfpipe, where Taki Hiraoka and Ayumu Hirano took first and third places respectively, with France’s Arthur Longo finishing second.
But it was Yuki Kadono who caused the biggest storm in the men’s slopestyle by landing back-to-back triple cork 1620s in his incredible winning run, just weeks after winning the LA Air & Style with the first ever switch backside triple 1620. Despite also putting in an impressive performance Mark McMorris had to make do with second place, with Tyler Nicholson finishing third.
After landing the first ever backside 900 in the women’s slopestyle at this year’s X Games, Spencer O’Brien managed to land the trick again, however, it was only enough to earn her third place on the podium, with Jamie Anderson and Anne Gasser taking first and second respectively.
The indomitable Kelly Clark won the women’s halfpipe event, with 14-year-old Chloe Kim hot on her heels in second place, and Arielle Gold in third.SDUK News: Yuki Kadono stomps back-to-back triple cork 1620s at the Burton US Open!,
