Our inbox is still being hammered with news of more and more discounts in the January sales so it’s definitely not too late to grab yourself a bargain.

While it’s extremely satisfying to snap up a sweet new jacket or board for a bargain price, the sales are also the perfect time to pick up those pieces of equipment that might not be quite as exciting to buy, but are just as important for your enjoyment and safety on the hill, if not more so. Let’s face it, it’s much easier to part with our hard earned cash for a sick new board than for a helmet or impact shorts… particularly if you’re a reluctant wearer of the aforementioned.

But it makes it a lot less painful (even before you stack it on the hill) if you can pick up those items for a bargain price, especially as it leaves you with extra cash to spend on more exciting kit!

To make it even less painful we’ve trawled the sales for you and found some amazing prices on protective kit that you actually can get excited about…

We’ve all had it drummed into us how important it is to wear helmet when snowboarding and these days there really is no reason not to as the latest ones on the market are not only warm and lightweight, but look pretty awesome too, like this best selling Red Mutiny II Helmet which we’ve managed to find reduced by 25% on Urban Surfer from £80 to £60. It fits comfortably, is durable, lightweight, well ventilated and headphone compatible. They’ve also got a range of other Red helmets for both men and women in their sale as well as a load of other discounted snowboard gear.

It’s even more crucial to protect your eyes, so why not put the cash you’ve saved on your helmet towards a new pair of goggles to go with it? As they’re both made by Burton, Anon goggles fit best with Red helmets and are excellent quality as well as looking damn fine. Both Urban Surfer and Boardwise have got a good range of Anon goggles in their winter sales, such as these Anon Figment goggles at Boardwise, reduced from £74.95 to £67.46.

Whilst scouring the sites for great deals on helmets, we also found this Smith Maze AD helmet reduced by a massive 45% from £84.99 to £42.50 at Snow+Rock. It’s the lightest certified helmet on the market so you won’t even notice you’re wearing it! It’s also compatible with Skullcandy’s Twin-Tip audio system which allows you to easily switch between listening to your tunes and answering calls. Be quick as they’re bound to go quickly…

And if you want some goggles to go with it, Surfdome have a great range of Smith goggles with 20% off in their sale as well as some awesome deals on boards. They’re also offering 10% off all orders over £75 with the voucher code ‘January10’, so it’s definitely worth checking out.

They’ve also got some great deals on protective clothing such as back protectors and impact shorts, and you can get 15% off the top of the range Red d3o Total Impact Shorts in the Boardwise sale. They may not be the most attractive items, but at least the prices are!

With bargains like these around, there’s never been a better time to protect your assets!
